SYDNEY — Skies above Cape Breton will be filled with military might next month.

The Cape Breton Heritage Festival will host the air show June 3-5 to begin back-to-back military and multicultural themed weekends.

“We got a call from the Snowbirds last September telling us they had an opportunity to come to Sydney so we grabbed it right away,” said event manager John Fraser.

Motorcycle events get federal funding

SYDNEY — Enterprise Cape Breton Corp. is helping two motorcycle events get their wheels under them this summer.

The crown agency has granted $100,000 to BikeFest-Thunder in the Highlands and $45,000 to the annual Harley Owner’s Group rally to help offset the costs of the events.

"The rally will attract between 1,200 and 1,400 motorcyclists and they’re coming from everywhere," said Andy Tonet, organizer of the Harley Owner’s Group rally taking place July 13-17.
